Milestones to tick off each trimester

Milestones to tick off each trimester. Two little lines, and everything shifts. Now's the time to choose a provider and book that first prenatal visit. An early scan around now may catch a first flicker of a heartbeat. If it isn't visible yet, that can be perfectly normal — your provider will guide you. Your first proper check-up — a dating scan, some bloodwork, and the chance to ask everything on your mind.

You're expecting 💛

Two little lines, and everything shifts. Now's the time to choose a provider and book that first prenatal visit.

First heartbeat

An early scan around now may catch a first flicker of a heartbeat. If it isn't visible yet, that can be perfectly normal — your provider will guide you.

First prenatal visit

Your first proper check-up — a dating scan, some bloodwork, and the chance to ask everything on your mind.

NIPT screening

From around now a simple blood test (NIPT) can screen for common chromosomal conditions — and reveal the sex, if you'd like to know early.

First-trimester screening

The combined screening — a nuchal-translucency scan plus bloodwork — is done between 11 weeks and 13 weeks + 6 days (when baby measures 45–84 mm), so it's worth booking early.

A first-trimester milestone

You’ve reached week 12. Every pregnancy is different, so keep following your care plan and mark this moment in your own way.

14–27

Pink or blue?

Finding out the sex or staying team green? The anatomy scan is coming up — a lovely moment to decide together.

First flutters

Those first tiny movements — like bubbles or butterflies — often begin around now. First-time parents may feel them a little later.

Dreaming up names

A sweet week to start a shortlist together. Try the name finder for ideas with meanings and origins.

The big anatomy scan

The halfway scan checks baby's growth and anatomy from head to toe — and often confirms the sex.

Baby’s hearing is developing

Hearing continues to develop. Responses to sound often become noticeable around weeks 25–28, and timing varies from baby to baby.

An important milestone

Baby reaches an important point in development this week. Every day from here adds to their strength.

Baby shower season

A lovely window to celebrate with the people you love. If you're planning a shower, now's a good time to set a date.

Second trimester wrap-up

The third trimester is nearly here. A good moment to tidy up plans and jot down questions for your next visits.

28–42

Third trimester & glucose check

Welcome to the home stretch. The glucose screening is done around weeks 24–28, your provider may discuss recommended vaccines — and, if you're Rh-negative, an anti-D injection.

Bump photos

Your bump is beautifully round — a lovely time for a maternity shoot or your own weekly snaps.

Start your Memory Book

Gather the scans, the notes, the little moments. Begin your keepsake book while it's all still fresh.

Growth check-ups

Visits get more frequent now as your provider keeps an eye on baby's growth and position.

Nesting & nursery

The urge to prepare kicks in. Set up the nursery and start gathering everything baby will need.

GBS test & bag ready

Around now comes the Group B strep swab, and your provider checks baby's position. Have your hospital bag packed and ready by the door.

Week 37 — early term

Baby is now early term; full term begins at week 39. Keep following your care team’s guidance as the due date gets closer.

Full term 💛

Baby is full term and getting ready to meet you. Keep an eye out for the early signs of labour.

A little overdue

Going a bit past your due date is common. Your provider will keep a closer eye on baby and talk through options like a membrane sweep or induction.
